The circular economy is known for being a business Chile Mobile Number List model that promotes the reduction of consumption and waste of raw materials. OXFAM states that this type of economy was created with the purpose of breaking the paradigm of the linear economy, which consists of buying, using and throwing away; to change it to reduce, reuse and recycle.
When companies implement this type of actions, they reinforce their commitment to the environment and obtain a very profitable return on investment, because by creating a circular economy project , economic fruits are obtained.

The circular economy is responsible for:
Delink economic growth from environmental degradation.
Increase resource efficiency.
Promote more sustainable lifestyles.
This type of business aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 12: Responsible Production and Consumption of the 2030 Agenda, which states that sustainable consumption and production consists of doing more and better with less.
A circular economy project full of innovation
In Mexico, there are many companies that are taking actions in favor of the environment, however, few have implemented a circular economy project. And Grupo Bimbo is carrying out recycling actions from its waste management strategy, thanks to its responsible commitment.
In this line, it has managed to reduce the environmental impact and take care of the planet's resources for present and future generations. Recently, he announced the design and development of a circular economy project based on the production of recycled plastic pallets.

These tools are used by the company itself to transport products and store raw materials within different work centers.
How did you manage to consolidate this innovation?
To create the pallets, 20% post-consumer plastic wrap is used, and the other 80% of its composition is recovered hard plastic.
The Fredher company —a distributor of industrial and plastic supplies in Mexico—collaborates in the manufacturing of these, which are a successful example of projects based on the circular economy.
One of the characteristics of these pallets is that they are friendly to the planet, in addition to being resistant, durable, recyclable, and very competitively priced, which means a remarkable return on investment.
circular economy project arrives in Mexico
Mauricio Borges, Bimbo Sustainability Manager in Mexico, stated that the company has already incorporated more than 17 thousand kilos of recycled plastic pallets this year, coming from the collection of recycled post-commercial wrappers.
“A circular economy project like this is a viable and efficient alternative to minimize the impact of plastic waste, resource and waste management.”
Mauricio Borges, Bimbo Sustainability Manager in Mexico.
Where and how will this circular economy project be used?
The recycled plastic pallets are already used in the Bimbo Distribution Centers in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, as well as in raw materials warehouses at the Barcel Lerma plant. The project adds to the company's multiple actions to manage its waste.
In 2019, Grupo Bimbo launched the first compostable packaging for bread in Mexico under the Vital brand , and today, the company boasts that all its packaging that can be biodegradable already is. This is thanks to the use of D2W technology, which responds to ASTM 6954-18 – Standard guide for exposing and testing plastics that degrade in the environment through a combination of oxidation and biodegradation.
It should be noted that interest in recycling among all sectors of the population, not just brands, arose in 1994 in Texas, United States. This can continue to expand, especially in companies, who have the responsibility of innovating to protect the environment.
